Harley Magden - President, and Aaron Magden - Vice President of Sales
Brothers Harley and Aaron Magden are national experts in the window business. Their company, Window Nation, consistently ranks among the top 40 window retailers in the country based upon sales. They learned the business from their father and grandfather, making them the third generation of their family to work in the window industry.
President Harley Magden oversees marketing and finance for Window Nation. He earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from John Carroll University. But he says he received just as much of a business education working for his father’s window company in Cleveland, starting back in 1993. Harley has been featured in the national trade magazine Replacement Contractor.
Vice President of Sales Aaron Magden oversees sales operations and sales representatives for all Window Nation locations. He began working in the family business at age 14 with warehouse duties. Following his B.S. in Business from John Carroll University, he steadily gained more responsibility, rising from sales rep to assistant manager to sales manager. “Our family tradition is a source of pride to me,” Aaron says.
Their experience shows in their treatment of customers. Both Harley and Aaron work up to 60 hours a week to make sure Window Nation customers get the best service anywhere. If any Window Nation customer has a problem, Harley and Aaron will step in if needed to make sure the issue is resolved.
Under their leadership, Window Nation is a member of GuildQuality, an organization whose members are dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience. Recent surveys conducted by GuildQuality show 95% of Window Nation customers surveyed describe the company as having superior sales knowledge, 94% say the company is professional and organized, and 94% say their installation was clean and safe.
The brothers grew up with a tradition of philanthropy which they are proud to carry on. Window Nation has given employee time, windows or a portion of its profits to Habitat for Humanity, Ireland Cancer Center, The Cleveland Animal Protective League, University of Maryland School of Medicine, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and other organizations.
“We always set aside money to donate in each of our markets, and look for opportunities that hit home for our employees and our customers,” Harley says. “We want to be a strong part of the communities we serve.”
Steve Lotz - Sales Manager, Cleveland
Steve Lotz started with Window Nation as a sales consultant. His sales success, business acumen, and dedication to customer service contributed to his quick rise to sales manager of Window Nation’s Cleveland location.
Steve’s responsibilities include sales force training, customer support and satisfaction, manufacturer relations, and overseeing day-to-day operations of the Cleveland division. He moved to the Cleveland area in 1996 and lives with his wife and two children on Cleveland’s far west side. His resume is loaded with exemplary results from his belief in being a stand-up employee, employer of choice, father, and husband. "Successful businesses thrive when good people provide real service to all customers," Steve says. "I truly believe that Window Nation and I uphold those values. It’s a great place to work."
A graduate of the University of Florida, Steve is excited about Window Nation’s growth over the past three years and about contributing to make the company even better.
Chuck Thall - General Manager, Cleveland
A life-long Clevelander, Chuck Thall oversees sales training, customer service, manufacturer relations, and overall growth of Window Nation’s Cleveland office. He was attracted to Window Nation’s mission to be the best window and door company in the United States. “There is no limit to what you can achieve here,” he says. “We are helping people add style and value to their homes.”
Sales have tripled in the company’s Cleveland office since Chuck’s arrival, and one reason why is his honesty and integrity. If a customer wants to replace his home’s windows over concerns about their age or energy efficiency, Chuck has been known to do an assessment and tell the customer to save his money because replacement isn’t necessary yet. “It’s the way I’m built,” he says. “We train our people to be skilled, to tell the truth, and to be the best we possibly can be.”
Chuck has sold windows to thousands of customers over the years. He prides himself on being a mentor to others, including five sales representatives who each sold more than $1 million worth of windows last year. Chuck has spent more than 15 years in the home improvement industry, including 11 years for another window company. He holds a B.S. in operations management from Case Western Reserve University.
Reggie Danage - Sales Manager, Maryland & Washington, D.C.
Reggie Danage was working as an advertising sales rep with The Baltimore Sun when he learned about a new company called Window Nation. He developed Window Nation’s newspaper ads, helped generate leads, and saw how the company was expanding into new markets.
“I watched them go from being a start-up to a major force in home improvement,” he says. “I wanted to be more hands-on and work with them in a closer capacity than just selling advertising. I wasn’t an employee from day one but I’ve been with the company since day one.”
Reggie joined Window Nation five years ago and has risen from sales rep to business development manager to sales manger for the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region. He oversees the office’s sales and growth.
A Baltimore native, he holds a B.S. in Communications and Media from Villanova University. His varied career has included stints as a video editor for CBS and Warner Brothers. He is married with two children, a pre-teen and a toddler. As a former college football player, Reggie is a big Ravens fan.
Joe Tripi Jr. - Director of Operations
Director of Operations Joe Tripi Jr. is an attorney by training who grew up in our industry by watching and helping his dad, who owned a home-improvement store in Cleveland.
Joe is responsible for overall customer service for Window Nation and also oversees administrative personnel and assists with human resources. He ensures all our systems are operating well to give customers the best possible experience. Prior to joining Window Nation, he worked as vice president of operations for another window company for six years. “I like to be a very approachable guy,” he says. “I consider myself an expert at getting any potential issues resolved before they get very far. Happy customers make for a happy and productive company, so I believe in going the extra mile to get customer expectations met."
Joe gets to practice his people skills at home, too; he’s married and the father of four children, ages 3 to 12. Joe earned his bachelors degree in political science from Ashland University and his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family.
Bob Klutz - Sales Manager, Virginia
Bob graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA with a degree in Accounting and passed the CPA exam in the Commonwealth of Virginia shortly thereafter. Bob was captain of his high school basketball team, an honor roll student and homecoming king (all true stories).
Upon graduating from college, Bob moved to Northern Virginia to pursue a professional career and has lived there ever since. He has extensive professional experience but enjoys the entrepreneurial aspects of small business and the home improvement industry the most. Bob shares Harley and Aaron’s passion, drive and commitment to delivering high quality products and services. The Sales Rep of the Year for 2012, Bob now relishes the opportunity and challenge of leading the Virginia office to greater successes.
In his spare time, Bob enjoys an occasional round of golf, poker or any other sporting event that stokes his competitive juices. He also enjoys spending time with his 2 boys who are not so little any more.
