There is no doubt that vinyl siding is a fantastic upgrade for any building. This low-cost siding comes in many colors, textures, and styles, and is practically maintenance free, resistant to moisture, strong enough to last for decades, and awesome at cutting energy bills down to size. But, vinyl isn’t perfect. Nothing ever is. The wrong replacement siding can have you dealing with frustrating issues like fading, buckling, yellowing, and rainwater getting in behind the siding. While these problems can be fixed, they are a headache you don’t have to live with. When you choose reinforced siding, you’ll get all of the benefits of vinyl, plus a whole lot more.

When you look at a sheet of reinforced siding, the first thing you will notice is that it is much more rigid than standard vinyl siding. Our reinforced siding gets its rigidity from a tri-beam construction that promotes strength through the entire product. On your home, that extra strength will help to prevent uneven walls and buckling. It is also 5 times more impact resistant than traditional siding. You’re not going to have to worry about hail, sleet, and strong winds damaging this siding!

If you want the look of real wood cedar siding, without all of the drawbacks that come with it, like splitting, peeling, or wood rot, than you’re going to love reinforced vinyl siding. And, unlike wood, you’re not going to have to paint this siding every time you turn around. The color process used to make our reinforced siding goes right through the panels and keeps it looking beautiful.

Reinforced siding comes with superior insulating qualities. The contouring foam on the back of each panel has graphite particles that help slow down the transfer of heat. That means your energy bills are going to be lower, and your home is going to be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

The reinforced siding our certified installers apply is 500% more breathable than other insulating systems and is built to prevent moisture retention. This will protect your home from all of the issues that moisture can cause, like fungal decay, cracking edges, buckling panels, and more. When the heavy winds rip across your exterior walls and the rain beats against them, you won’t have to worry with this siding option.

It is amazing what mother nature can do to vinyl siding when the right conditions occur. High winds, sleet, ice, snow, hail, and heavy rains can do a number on vinyl siding. That’s why we use reinforced siding with a double rolled over nailing hem. This is the most secure method for attaching vinyl panels, and will give your siding what it needs to resist almost anything mother nature will throw at it, including seasonal contraction and expansion.

When choosing new siding, most people don’t think about all of the bugs that will be trying to get in through that siding; but they should. Bugs can destroy the wood of your home and find tiny cracks to get in and build their nests inside your wall voids. The product we use comes with built-in pest control agents that will help your walls stay protected and help you reduce costs for professional pest control.

Since this siding has a rich wood look, it seems only fitting that it should be built to show as few seams as possible. You may be able to get a similar wood appearance with standard vinyl siding, but reinforced siding comes in 16-foot lengths, instead of 12-foot lengths, reducing seams by 33%.

At Window Nation, we don’t just sell reinforced vinyl siding; we exclusively sell Gladiator XL siding. We believe that Gladiator XL siding with its custom Fullback® Insulation backing is the best vinyl siding money can buy.

When it comes to choosing new siding for your home, the choices can feel overwhelming. There are a lot of options out there. And siding is going to be an investment; so you want to make sure you get it right the first time. Let’s take a quick look at some of the options you can choose for your home, and see if we can simplify things a bit.

What style of home are you looking to remodel? Do you have a quaint Cape Cod, or is it more of a traditional looking Victorian? Are you updating siding for a rustic Ranch style home, or does your house have more of a French Country style to it? The type of home you have may have a lot to do with what style of siding your choose. Or, you may just decide to do something no one has ever done before.

Clap Board is probably the most recognizable siding in the United States. This is because it isn’t just attractive, it is easy to install and great at keeping water from getting in. If you’re looking for something tried and true, this is definitely the way to go.

Dutch Lap is the perfect choice if you’re looking to give your home a rustic, log home appearance. From a distance, the curved “reveal” on this siding looks a little bit like stacked logs, but this is not log cabin siding. This siding option is going to give a country look with a touch of opulence.

Shingles are considered by many to be uniquely American in their style, since this style was quite popular in New England at the end of the 19th century, and many homes are still adorned with them today. It is also a siding option that says, “rich,” because only families that were well off could afford to have this type of siding.

Scallop siding, also called fish scale, is a great option if you want to add a traditional elegance and a unique originality to your home. This is also a siding style that is often used as an accent for other styles. It is perfect for breaking horizontal patterns and adding character.

Board and Batten is a versatile style that can be used in a modern design or give the look of barn boards to a rustic design. Whether you need something contemporary, or decidedly country, board and batten can get the job done. Use it alone or as an accent for other styles.

Wood is a material option almost everyone loves the look of. It definitely has classic appeal. But it is an option that comes with some drawbacks. It is more susceptible to insect and water damage, requires periodic painting or staining, is not fire resistant, and is not going to do well in a dry climate.

Metal is the material to us if you’re looking for a unique look, fire resistance, mold resistance, low cost, and something that will be fairly low on maintenance. But be aware that aluminum is prone to being dented, and many people associate this material with metal sheds and trailers–and, sadly, that is a hard stereotype to break free of.

Vinyl is the least expensive and most versatile material option available, and it comes in an impressive selection of colors and styles. In fact, all of the styles mentioned above can be purchased in vinyl. It also has the benefit of easy maintenance, insulation, and the ability to look like real wood. It is not without its drawbacks. While the fact that this material doesn’t require re-painting every 5 years, and that is definitely a positive for some people, you’re going to have to live with the color you select for your vinyl siding. Fortunately, there are tons of colors to choose from.

Fiber is the perfect choice if you need durability, fairly low maintenance, and high quality. But, that quality is going to cost you a little extra. You’re also going to have to do some maintenance if you have fiber. Unlike vinyl, the color applied to fiber isn’t through the entire material. So it will require some touch ups now and then. But, on a positive note, you can paint fiber if you feel like switching up the colors on your home.

If you’ve been thinking about a facelift for your home and you’d like more information about siding options and styles, let us know. We’d be happy to schedule a free in-home estimate and get you started on your way to a beautiful new look for your home.

Have you been thinking of getting a facelift for your home? Vinyl siding is definitely a great way to go. That is why we’ve made it a large part of our business. But there are a few things you should consider before you get your checkbook out.

Pros And Cons Of Going With Vinyl Siding

  • Some things that are a pro for one person can be a con for another, like periodic painting. If you enjoy changing the color of your house whenever you feel like it, vinyl may not be the right choice for you. But, being able to paint your house whenever you feel like it comes with a downside. If you don’t paint every 5 years, you’re going to have to look at a home that is losing its color, and chipping. While you won’t be able to paint your vinyl siding, you will enjoy years of vibrant color that will require very little elbow grease to keep it looking beautiful.

  • Extreme cold weather can sometimes make vinyl siding brittle, and this can be an issue for some. But when you consider the price of vinyl compared to fiber cement, the lower cost more than makes up the difference in durability. And, when compared to wood, vinyl siding may not be as impervious to cold damage, but the insulated backing that comes with vinyl siding does a much better job of keeping all that extreme cold out, and all the warmth in. Besides these differences, vinyl is also inexpensive and easy to fix when siding is damaged.

  • Insect damage is an issue every homeowner should keep in mind. When it comes to resisting insects, vinyl beats wood every time.

  • When it comes to combating mold and rot, vinyl is the most inexpensive option available to outperform wood.

  • Siding can fade over time, but vinyl can be made to resist color fade. At Window Nation, we use a process that makes colors go all the way through the panels. This keeps them looking vibrant, year after year.

  • There was a time when vinyl couldn’t compete against the aesthetics of wood but that is not longer the case. Vinyl has come a long way. It is now even accepted for use on many historical buildings.

If you’re looking for a low cost, low maintenance, mold and bug resistant, insulated siding that is easy to put on and easy to fix, you don’t have to look any further than vinyl. Speak with one of our knowledgeable online representatives today and find out how vinyl can help you reduce the cost of maintaining your home, without compromising the beauty.

Fall is such a wonderful season. Some of the best memories are made during this time of year while apple picking, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, and maybe even while taking a trip to a corn maze. Fall is also a time when there’s a change in your wardrobe from flip flops to shoes and t-shirts to scarves. Since fall means a change in weather, there is also a change in the conditioning of your home. Improving and fixing up your home can be refreshing; but most importantly, it will keep your home safe and more energy efficient for the colder months to come. Maybe you have noticed your home seems a bit drafty? Have you noticed your heating bills have increased? Maybe the exterior of your home needs a facelift before another cold and harsh winter? Let’s take a look at some common fall home improvements.
Windows can do wonders on the appearance and insulation of your home. With the right window, you can transform a room and seal out harsh winds, snow, and rain. If your current windows seem outdated or small and you’re looking to improve their performance, a fall window replacement should be on your to-do list.
If you answered yes to having a drafty space within your home, another area that may need a facelift is your doors. If there is any space at all around a doorway, cold wind can enter and greatly alter the climate inside your home. Whether you are in need of an entry door, French door, or a sliding door, we have you covered, and we are willing to help you locate the best door to fit and complete your project.
Many homeowners have taken to vinyl siding for its flawless appearance and its durability, providing lasting protection for decades. There are other projects you may have on your to-do list this fall such as roof assessment and repair or exterior painting. With all these tasks looming, there can be times when it seems like they will never get done before the snow flies. We are here to help you. Vinyl siding isn’t just a quality upgrade for a home; it is a vital part of a home’s defenses. It is the protective skin that keeps warm air in throughout the winter and cool air in during the summer. It keeps the sun from drying out the wood of a home–without the need for constant staining and painting. It keeps water from soaking in and causing rot, mold, or algae. Plus, it is the first line of defense against the damage hostile weather conditions can cause. That is why it is important to make sure your vinyl siding is doing its job. Here are 5 signs that it may be time to upgrade your siding.

  1. Cracks. This is a sign you can’t miss. When siding begins to crack, it can become unsightly; but cracks are more than an eyesore. Those cracks will be letting water in through the wood of your home, and this can lead to expensive repairs or interior mold issues. If you’re seeing cracks, you may be able to solve your problem by replacing a few pieces; but be sure to have an expert tell you if the problem is widespread.
  2. Bubbling or blistering. If you’ve had your siding a long time, this type of damage is a warning flag. It is letting you know that it is no longer doing its job to the level it should. Upgrading to newer technologies will help you save the money you’re losing in energy.
  3. Extreme fading. Siding has come a long way in the last two decades. We now treat vinyl with color that penetrates all the way through, so it will keep its color a lot longer. If your siding is fading, it is definitely time for new siding. Not only will it make your home vibrant and beautiful again, but you’ll immediately receive all the benefits of having this new technology.
  4. High energy bills. Sometimes your siding won’t show you that it is worn out, but if your energy bills are through the roof, it can be an indicator that your siding has reached the end of its lifespan.
  5. Interior paint and wallpaper peeling. When your siding is letting moisture in, there can be many interior signs. The most noticeable will be when interior paint bubbles or peels and wallpaper glue loses its seal.

When considering new vinyl siding for your home, there are really only two questions. The first question you’re likely to ask is, “Why is vinyl siding better than wood?” This is a good question. Wood siding has been around for a long time–and for good reason. Wood siding is beautiful and durable. The second question you’re likely to ask is, “Why should I choose Window Nation for my vinyl siding?” we get it. There are a lot of vinyl siding companies out there. Hopefully, we’ll answer these two questions and help you make the best decision for your home.

Why Vinyl?

When you cover your exterior walls with vinyl, you’re going to get a ton of immediate benefits, without compromising on the appearance of your home. The traditional issues with wood exteriors are maintenance and repairs. While wood can last a very long time, it takes ongoing maintenance and repairs to do so. That means scraping and painting your home every few years. If you don’t, you’re not just going to deal with dull colors and peeling paint, the wood of your home can be damaged by the sun and weather conditions. Vinyl siding stands up to the weather. And when done right, it stays vibrant and beautiful for years.

Why Window Nation?

We manufacture our siding with proprietary design ingredients that help maintain strength, rigidity, and consistent quality throughout the product. When you have Window Nation vinyl siding, you have siding that is built to last for the life of your home, and longer.

The process we use makes the color go through the panels, so you never have to think about scraping, painting, or staining. Plus, the materials we use offer a wide range of colors that resist fading. That means your siding is going to be durable a lot longer.

At Window Nation, we design our panels in standard sizes and shapes, which creates little room for installation mistakes and allows us to easily replace any panels that get damaged. Our installation process also works to let siding expand and contract when the temperatures change. This prevents cracking and splitting of panels.

You can trust Window Nation to also give you a wide variety of colors and insulation options. When you’re looking for the perfect color, the best in energy efficiency, and the most reliable installation, you don’t need to look any further than Window Nation. There’s a reason we are one of the nation’s leading vinyl installers.

The things we cherish the most deserve the best protection. Our health should be at the foremost of our mind with proper care of our bodies and adequate insurance. We nurture and care for our children, protecting them from as much as possible while preparing them to successfully care for themselves. But other than our children and our health, our forever home is probably the largest financial investment and most important possession we have.

Your home may be an old house handed down from your ancestors, or it could be your first purchased home—a fixer upper. Perhaps it has just become weathered with age and environmental conditions and in need of a facelift. Regardless of the type of home you own, protecting and preserving it is of vital importance.

One of the greatest investments to your home is protecting the outer surface. Vinyl siding from Window Nation comes in many styles, requires very little maintenance, and provides excellent protection. When applying vinyl siding to your home, you are creating a protective barrier that will prevent damage from the various weather elements. Wind, snow, ice, and rain can eventually take a toll on the wooden structure. When vinyl siding is applied, the wood is less susceptible to mildew and rot. The application of vinyl siding will also reduce energy bills.

Have you decided that vinyl siding is right for you home? It is an easy choice. Maintaining wood siding can feel a lot like renting paint. You slap a few coats on your home and in 5 years you’re out there painting again. Vinyl siding offers a permanent solution that, if done right, will resist the passage of time and protect the wood of your house from the harmful effects of severe weather. But, now that you’ve chosen vinyl as an upgrade, you’re still left with a question: “Which vinyl siding is the right one?” Hopefully, we can shed some light on that question.

Do I want to stand out?

You may be thinking that your home would look awesome in teal or purple, but before you take that bold step you should know that it could affect the value of your home in the eyes of a potential buyer. Even if you don’t imagine you will ever sell your home, it is still a good idea to consider a home sale in your plan. Look around your neighborhood and see what color tones are being used and consider talking to a real estate agent to see what color could increase your home’s sale value.

Will my color choice cost me more?

Not all colors are created equal. If you choose an exotic or rare color, you can expect to pay more. Common colors are used by a larger customer base, and when vinyl siding companies can sell to a wider base, they are able to pass their savings on to their customers. They are also inclined to do so because reducing the price means they will ensure larger bulk orders for that color style.

What style works with my home?

This is the most obvious question on our list, but it deserves mentioning. If you have a fence or deck that is painted a certain color, you are going to want to match those design elements. If your home has a certain theme or style, you’ll want to go with the siding that complements your home best. Though most vinyl siding looks like standard horizontal clapboards, siding can also come in vertical panels, shingles, scallops and more.

When you have Window Nation install your vinyl siding, not only will you get the best choice of colors and vinyl accessories, you’ll get the best siding installation in the business. No matter which look you choose, you know your home will be protected for years to come when it is professionally installed by Window Nation. Visit one of our showrooms to see all the many options available. You’ll be amazed at the selection.

Busy, busy, busy! Everyone is so busy. Who has time to do house maintenance? Not me. Scraping, washing, sanding and recoating wood siding is not in my schedule, let alone part of my skill set. How about those old windows that stick and are cracked and leaky? I certainly don’t have time to do anything about those! Maintenance is something that most of us don’t have to do. We buy maintenance plans for our appliances, vehicles and other things, but just what do we do about our homes?

The three biggest maintenance issues for homes are siding, doors and windows. These areas are crucial to your home’s energy efficiency and curb appeal. If any of them are not performing correctly or are an eye sore than it effects your whole home.

Siding is aesthetically like the frosting on top of a cake. The style and color of your siding is a center point of your homes’ curb appeal. Quality vinyl siding covers your home with beautiful color. Available in tons of colors and styles, your home’s siding will surely reflect you. Maintenance is not an issue with quality vinyl siding from us here at Window Nation. Our vinyl siding does not need to be sanded, scraped or repainted, EVER! Virtually maintenance free, vinyl siding is most assuredly the way to go.

You may not think of doors as a maintenance issue at first, but if they become scratched, dented or need to be refinished they certainly are a maintenance problem and are ugly. This is not exactly the impression you want to give people when they enter your house. Wood doors need a regularly scheduled maintenance of refinishing. This, just like wood siding, means that your door will need to be sanded, scraped, washed and recoated. Yet again a process that takes time and specific skills. Here at Window Nation we know that time is of essence, so we offer a huge selection of steel and fiberglass doors. Available in all the popular styles, such as:

  • French doors

  • Sliding doors

  • Entry doors

  • Storm doors

Both steel and fiberglass doors have a minimal maintenance schedule when finished per manufacturer’s recommendations. These extremely efficient doors will also help pad your wallet because they will out preform an old leaky door in both energy efficiency and keeping insects outside.

Wood, aluminum or sub-par vinyl windows have maintenance written all over them! They all require an annual maintenance. Some need intense repair, some need painting and some just plain ole’ gotta go.

Our vinyl windows come in hundreds of styles, color and combinations to meet your needs. Each vinyl replacement window is custom manufactured to meet your requirements. These high quality vinyl windows will never need to be repainted, EVER.

Life in the 21st century is busy enough. Why add more to it than you have to? Replace your windows, doors and siding with the low-low-low maintenance products from the experts here at Window Nation!

Hurricanes are rated on a scale called the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. There are four criteria that are measured to classify a storm as to which category it is. The four areas are storm surge, damage level, pressure and wind speed.

Storm surge is defined as a rising of the sea as a result of atmospheric pressure changes and wind associated with a storm. The storm surge can be very dangerous and destructive. We have all seen the pictures of sea and ocean water coming up onto streets and into houses where it doesn’t belong. It will literally pick cars, trucks and buildings up and move them around.Vinyl Siding On Home

Hurricanes have very low pressures. Areas of low pressure have high winds, warm temperatures and low levels of oxygen.

The damage level is directly related to all the other aspects of the hurricane. The higher the winds, the bigger the storm surge, the lower the pressure than the damage level increases.

Wind is also the very damaging and dangerous. The wind itself can lift up heavy objects and throw them around making them a hazard. Hurricane winds range from 74 mph and all the way up to 156 and over. Hurricane winds can rip siding off from buildings. Per the Federal Emergency Management Association, hurricane winds try to blow ‘under’ a building but hit the walls and then rip up it with immense force. This, more often than not, lifts the initial course at the base of the wall and then flips each course of siding as it travels quickly up the wall. This can be quite destructive to the siding and the building.

Here at Window Nation we offer high end quality vinyl siding for homes in Cleveland, Canton and throughout Ohio. Our vinyl siding is five times more rigid than other leading brands and has been tested to withstand category five hurricane winds! Our professionally trained vinyl siding installers also know all the correct procedures to install your siding to resist hurricane force winds.

The wind that blows through Cleveland and Ohio from hurricanes can be scary business. With the help of Window nation you can put your fear of losing your siding to rest. Call us today!
