"The filming was super strange. I had someone following me around with makeup and they were adjusting my hair," laughs Kristine Walz, Window Nation's Regional Sales Director.
The filming she mentioned was for the "Designing Spaces" television show with a segment featuring replacement windows from Window Nation, that aired on HGTV in late June.
Earlier this year, the show's production team was talking with Window Nation about featuring a window replacement segment - from research, to purchase, to installation. After talking things through with them, the show's team felt that Window Nation was a great fit.
Known nationally for our top-quality vinyl replacement windows, we worked with the "Designing Spaces" team to find the right house. As luck would have it, Ty and Jennifer Gotcher had just placed an order for several new windows for their Austin-area home, along with a beautiful new French door for their patio.
When they built their home 14 years ago, the windows worked fine. As the home aged, and was subjected to season after season of the Texas heat, they started to notice that their air conditioning was running constantly. Their upstairs bedrooms eventually became unbearably hot. "Over that time, we'd spent a lot on energy bills," reports Jennifer.
Then there were the comments from loved ones. "We had some family members come down, and they said, ‘hey, it looks like your windows may need to be cleaned,' and I was like no, they're just really that bad," says Ty with a knowing smile.
"That was the moment where we said we can't do this anymore," Jennifer adds with a laugh.
So what made the Gotchers book a consult with Window Nation in the first place? "The reviews for Window Nation were phenomenal, which really stood out to us," says Ty. With over 45,000 five-star reviews from customers, an A+ rating from the BBB, and high marks on Google, we honored that so many homeowners trust us to protect their home.
The Window Replacements That Earned a Spot on "Designing Spaces"
The Gotchers' new windows needed to solve several problems for them, with energy efficiency, functionality, quality, curb appeal, and a strong warranty being the priorities.
"We like to start all of our free estimates by sitting down with the homeowner and finding out what's really unique about them, their home, and their needs" says Walz. After talking with a Window Nation consultant, they chose the Universal Standard Series for their balance of high-quality materials, performance, and affordability.
Energy Efficient windows
Energy efficiency was high on their list and, by simply replacing their windows with ones from Window Nation, they were excited to hear that they would likely save up to 30% off their utility bills. The homeowners commented that their upstairs rooms had been unbearably hot during the warm months.
"We were walking around the house two hours after the windows had been installed," Walz recalls about that day. "It was 90 degrees or so that day, so their air conditioning was on. We went upstairs, and the rooms were cool and comfortable. There was only maybe a 2 degree difference from downstairs, and that had never happened to them before."
Replacing Sticking Windows
Another problem the old upstairs windows had was that they were difficult to open - and lock. "We have four kids, so It's important for us to have windows that are functional in our home," explains Jennifer. Their old windows were so hard to open that they often left them unlocked in the event of emergency. "Now I can open them with one hand - I can't believe it!"
New Windows for Home Value and Curb Appeal
"Our home value is very important to us, and we wanted to have really good curb appeal," says Ty. "Our home looks so much more modern, it looks updated, so I think it was a huge improvement." Not only do they look great, but real estate experts report that replacement windows see an average return on investment of 80%, making for strong, long-term investment.
Windows With A Lifetime Warranty
But when it comes to long-term investments in your home, you also want to make sure they're going to last. That's where Window Nation's limited lifetime warranty pays off. "Window Nation's warranty was better than any of the other warranties we looked at," says Jennifer with a confident smile.
