Window Replacement With A Heart

"My husband and I moved into this house in 2008 and the windows had been in the house for a few years prior to that," says Indianapolis-area homeowner, Patricia Bura. 

"The seals had deteriorated in between the glass, and they were starting to show their age. The exteriors weren't white anymore, they were kind of a gray white. We had one that just didn't want to stay open like it was supposed to, something had happened in the track," Patricia explains. 

That's when Patricia and her husband started shopping for windows in Indianapolis. 

"We had the young man out to show the product and we chose Window Nation, we were ready," says Patricia. "We signed the contract, accepted the financing and everything. And within just a matter of a day or two, that's when I knew that there was something not right with my health."

Patricia was having frequent chest pains. "I spoke with the homeowner and that is when she informed me about her heart issues," explains Jennifer Watkins, Window Nation's Installation Coordinator handling the Buras' window order. " She was still waiting for test results, and was hoping that it would be nothing major."

Patricia's big concern was that she had to take leave from work. "They were concerned that if it is something major that they would be unable to afford the windows," Jennifer said. 

Not long after, they went to the Emergency Room. "I got three arteries that were not working right. It wasn't until I was in the emergency room, and they had given me a nitroglycerin tablet that I know that I was in pain," she says of her health scare. The medical team rushed her into surgery where she underwent a quadruple bypass. 

After spending several weeks in the hospital due to complications, Patricia was brought home to start her long recovery, and Jennifer called them about scheduling their window installation. "She said they could no longer afford the windows. She was unable to work, and expected to be on disability for six months, but the doctors were not sure she would be able to work again." 

That's when Jennifer reached out to her Window Nation management team to see if the Buras could be helped under the Window Nation Cares program.

Throughout the whole process, Patricia had been very open with me about everything going on," said Jennifer. "She was extremely disappointed that she would not be able to afford the new windows as she was really looking forward to them. I knew this would mean the world to them." 

Thanks to Jennifer's concern for the Buras, Window Nation decided to donate their windows. 

"Because of Window Nation, I can look out this window and know that Jennifer was my angel, because she pushed so hard," Patricia says with a warm smile. "I'll be able to enjoy a beautiful day like today without all the gloom of what I was looking through with the dirty windows - and it's gonna be this way for years to come because we've got quality that's going to allow us to have a warmer home, a prettier home."

When asked about the installation day, Patricia laughs. "They wouldn't allow me to mess with anything! All of the guys, they were all very respectful when they came in the house. I'm so grateful to them for all that they did, the way that they cleaned up."

Patricia pauses for a moment to collect her thoughts, taking in the whole situation. "I just can't thank Jennifer and Window Nation enough. There are no words to express how I feel. It's just unthinkable that it happened to me, you know?  I know it was not something that they had to do, and I am so grateful. My husband, we don't know how to thank you. We just don't. We don't know how to do it. 

Then, with a warm smile, she looks up. "This is just a once in a lifetime thing that I will remember forever."
