Fall is the perfect time to tackle the home improvement project you’ve been putting off. The temperatures are mild, and the weather is ideal for spending time outdoors. You might have an idea of the home improvement project you’d like to start – maybe your garden is overgrown, or you need to repair the shingles on your roof before winter arrives. However, the decision might not be as easy for some homeowners. You might be looking to increase your home’s energy efficiency or give your home a curb appeal boost, but you don’t know where to start. If you need a little more inspiration, our home improvement experts shared their recommendations for Fall home improvement projects.
Fall is one of the best times of year to replace your windows. You won’t have to worry about your exterior design consultant getting stuck in the snow on the way to your house, and your installation won’t get delayed due to inclement weather. Mild temperatures are also ideal for window installation – the caulk that seals your windows adheres best in cooler temperatures.
Replacement windows will give your home an energy efficiency boost just in time for winter – our windows are built with premium energy efficiency features to eliminate drafts and keep your home comfortable no matter the season. You might even see savings on your energy bills just in time for the holiday shopping season! When you choose replacement windows from Window Nation, you’ll also enjoy a curb appeal boost – all our windows are custom-made to meet your home’s needs. Choose from a variety of style and color options to find the perfect fit for your home.
The last thing you’ll want during the biggest snowstorm of the year is for your furnace to go out. Before the temperatures drop, consider contacting a HVAC maintenance professional to inspect your furnace. They can perform routine maintenance and make repairs if necessary. However, if your furnace is more than 10 years old, they might recommend upgrading it with a modern, more energy efficient HVAC system. Though the cost might seem steep, you’ll enjoy the comfort of knowing you won’t have to make any upgrades or repairs for years to come. When choosing a new furnace, consider purchasing an Energy Star certified system – you could save money on your energy bills.
Siding is one of the most overlooked parts of your home, but it’s important to keep it well maintained. If your siding is looking worse-for-wear, you might consider replacing it with modern vinyl siding from Window Nation. Our siding is available in a variety of colors, giving your home a much-needed curb appeal boost in time for the holidays. You won’t have to worry about your siding cracking or fading due to inclement weather – our siding is durable, built to withstand the harshest weather conditions. Vinyl siding will also improve your home’s insulation, keeping your home comfortable all winter long.
Your home should feel cozy and comfortable in the Fall, not drafty and chilly. Improve your home’s comfort this Fall by upgrading your home’s insulation. We recommend hiring an expert to conduct a home energy audit to determine the places where you’re losing the most energy. Your attic is one of the biggest culprits due to poor insulation – we recommend upgrading your home’s insulation with fiberglass or foam insulation to keep the chilly air outside. It’s also important to seal any cracks you might find, particularly around your windows and doors, to eliminate drafts and keep your home comfortable.
Nearly one-third of residential heating and cooling costs are attributed to energy loss through windows and doors. Why continue to waste money on your energy bills month over month? Consider upgrading your doors to replacement doors from Window Nation. We offer entry doors, French doors, and sliding doors, each custom-made to fit your home’s needs. Our doors are available in fiberglass and steel options, so you can choose the best style for your home. You’ll enjoy a curb appeal boost and added security – all Window Nation doors come standard with a multi-point locking system to make your home more secure.

Valentine’s Day used to mean a fancy date night out — but with COVID-19 still lingering, you may not feel comfortable dining at a busy restaurant. If you’re planning on spending Valentine’s Day at home this year, surprise your sweetie by freshening up your indoor space!
Here are five fun ways to make this Valentine’s Day at home special.
1. Liven up the atmosphere with some flowers.
Nothing screams Valentine’s Day more than a bouquet of flowers, so if you’re looking to add a touch of romance to your home, flowers are a great way to start.
Try setting a vase of roses out on your dinner table, or as a centerpiece on your mantle — and if you’re feeling romantic, scatter a trail of rose petals to set the mood.
Don’t be afraid to get creative, either! There are plenty of flowers that will refresh your living space this Valentine’s Day. For example, lilacs can be a great subtle touch for your kitchen, or you can give your loved one an orchid to spruce up your living room year-round.
2. Hang your romantic photos.
Whether it just wasn’t the right time, or you’re still searching for the perfect frame, this is the perfect occasion to put up those romantic photos.
Highlight your favorite moments from your vacation or re-live a romantic night out with picture frames that draw your attention (without taking too much focus away from your memories). Give the spotlight to your favorite pictures with fun accent colors perfect for Valentine’s Day.
3. Switch up your decor with something vibrant
If you’ve been looking at the same color scheme in your home since Christmas, it might be time to do some redecorating. Try a bold color palette to make this Valentine’s Day memorable.
Or, if you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to show off your favorite decor, now’s the time. Dust off your nice china and set out the candles. Or, if you’ve been looking for a reason to buy those heart-themed towels and comforters you found — go all out!
4. Make some new additions to your living space
Don’t like how your favorite chair’s stuck in the corner? Prefer to move your sectional closer to your coffee table? Here’s your chance to do some re-arranging! Try something new and exciting. You could even position your loveseat closer to the fireplace to have a cozy night in.
Or, if something’s still missing, consider purchasing a completely new set of furniture! Nothing says “I’m committed” as a serious investment in your interior decorating. Just discuss it with your loved one first — this probably isn’t a gift you would buy on a whim.
5. Have you considered remodeling? How about replacing your windows?
Don’t let your home miss out on the love this season. Old, outdated windows can put a chilly damper on a romantic evening, so if you’ve been putting off replacing your windows, now’s the time to make a change.
Bay windows provide the perfect cozy space to eat those leftover chocolates and watch the snowfall outside. Or, if you’re sitting by the fire and pesky drafts are making it difficult to get comfortable, an energy-efficient window replacement could be your best option.

Are you thinking about replacing your old windows? Our job at Window Nation is not limited to just replacing your windows; we are here to guide each customer on what to expect during your installation. We want each homeowner to be delighted from the moment they pick up the phone until long after their install.
On your install day, a crew will arrive at your home and brief you on what to expect from them before beginning the project. At that time, you can ask any questions you may have. After your briefing, the following will occur:
- The preparation. Installers will place drop cloths around your home to catch any debris that will occur throughout the project. Then, they will proceed to remove your old windows.*
- Out with the old, in with new. Once the old windows are removed, the installers will clean the opening thoroughly and put the new windows in place.
- Insulation and sealing. After the window is put into place, the installers will insulate and seal the frame into place. This is one of the most important part of your install. Insulation is what will keep the cold air and moisture outside, saving you money on energy costs.
- The clean-up. After installers have completed your project, they are responsible for cleaning up. We will dispose of your old windows and remove any debris that our drop cloths didn’t catch. Shortly after your install, one of our auditors will come visit your home to make sure our team installed your windows properly.
*Remember to remove any blinds, items, or curtains prior the crew’s arrival to give them easy access to the windows. It’s also helpful to move any furniture or items away from your doors so the crew can move materials in and out.
Completion times for projects are subject to vary. While we aim to complete installs within a day, unforeseen circumstances like weather may cause a delay. If installers need more time, our service and scheduling team will with work you to discuss what to expect next.
